His words, the mirror,
my reflection, and beautiful women everywhere I look!
How can I maintain confidence?
Well, first and foremost, it’s not in your reflection. I mean, you can look in ten different mirrors and although you see you in each one, in each one you look ever so slightly different.
Maybe your nose is wider or narrower, your cheeks less defined or chubbier, or your complexion looks dewy in one and ruddy in another.
So, your reflection from any surface is not a reliable source.
Secondly, what others think of you is, as we’ve established, foolishness.
Thirdly, it’s pointless to compare yourself to others. Even the most beautiful people have insecurities about the way they look.
And everybody in this world has imperfections. Everybody!
I’ve probably said this before but there is no such thing as perfection. Only a person wanting others to think what they do, their lives, their relationships, and how they look are perfect.
So, again I ask myself, what could I do to stay on track?
It’s funny how the questions you ask contain the answers you need.
What could I do?
Do. Doing, was the answer. Doing, places the focus on the task at hand and puts everything else (that you probably don’t have any control over anyway) in the background.
It’s been said that the only thing you have control of is how you react to situations, how you behave, how you use your energy.
So, I started writing again. When I write, I feel whole, I feel at peace, and I feel confident.
And that is beautiful.
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.”
