I know I’m on the right track…
when whatever topic I’m writing about comes up in a book I’m reading or on TV. Okay, I think, this is a sign that my blog post topic is in sync with the universe. This is what I’m supposed to be writing about.
But are they really signs? Or is it that the topic at hand is on my mind? That my ideas are at the forefront of my consciousness? It could even be that others around me are on the same page, a shared consciousness maybe.
So many of us think, feel, and like similar things. We have ideas that we think are unique when thousands of others have thought of the same thing. Not everyone carries out their ideas though. Not everyone puts it out into the world. We believe it’s something new when it’s more like a few speaking for many.
What do signs look like?
I once came upon an accident involving multiple cars. Moments before I was a little impatient with the slow poke in front of me. I blamed them for making me miss a green light. I quickly realized that if the slow person in front of me hadn’t held me back, or the untimely red lights hadn’t stopped me, that it might have been me in that pileup.
Another time I had a feeling that I should make a grocery store run on that particular day. I wasn’t feeling my best but had a strong sense that I should go rather than putting it off until the next day. Taking my time getting ready, and letting a few tasks sidetrack me, I was finally on my way. When I finally got to the store, as I was walking in, someone that I hadn’t seen in a while was on his way out. We ended up talking for about thirty minutes and when we parted I felt uplifted. It was just what I needed.
There’s no doubt in my mind that these were signs. Where they came from doesn’t matter. Thank you, universe.
What’s trending
Noticing things out in the world that are currently on your mind because you have been immersed in similar tasks, projects, goals, or ideas are not signs. It’s just what’s trending.
Let me say that although there are similar ventures all around you, one little variation on those ideas makes yours, yours. Put it out there. You just might start a trend.
The fact that you are seeing similar things to what is going on in your life all around you is called the Frequency Illusion.
The Frequency Illusion is basically the idea that we become more aware of things that we are learning about for the first time. And although this sudden awareness causes us to perceive it as a new event nothing has changed.
A popular example is if you buy a new car, you will begin to see that same make, model, and color everywhere. You think to yourself wow so many people have just bought the same car I have. The truth is that those cars were already there. You’re just noticing them because that is a new circumstance in your reality that has become the center of your life.
Right Where I Should Be
Although I understand that what I’m becoming aware of when connecting with the outside world is the Frequency Illusion, because that is currently my world. I’d like to believe that it serves as validation that I’m right where I should be.
I know that my reality consists of what and whom I focus on and to a certain extent I can keep on the same path or change my direction if I choose.
However, I like the idea that someone or something is guiding me along. Urging me in the right direction with little signs of confirmation, or whispers of alarm. Working behind the scenes to help me realize my goals, dreams, and my purpose.
I believe I’m on the right path. Nevertheless, I’m always watching, listening, and paying attention to any potential signs that I need to change course.
Life is to be navigated with whatever tools work for you.
“I believe we are free, within limits, and yet there is an unseen hand, a guiding angel, that somehow, like a submerged propeller, drives us on.”
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), India
