I don’t know if…
time flying by is just something that older people experience or am I not present enough, enough of the time to slow time down? Or not be aware of it at least?
Wait. There is no time when you are in the present moment.
But these moments keep coming, Lol.
It seems like only hours go by before I am going through the house and collecting garbage and recyclables on Tuesday for Wednesday pick up again.
Is it me or is time speeding up?
I Just Was
When I was a kid, I had no concept of time. I just was. Now that I am a little bit older, wink wink, time is all there is.
Then, there was only what was happening within a small pocket of time. Everything was so present. Children jump from one moment to another like steppingstones.
Now, having improved my awareness practice what is, is on top of all the other what is’s. There’s history. There is a spectrum. I am somewhere on that line moving all over the place at all times.
Can I still “Just be” without getting pulled into the yarn of time?
Quality Over Quantity
Being self-aware, practicing mindfulness, and letting myself fall into each moment as if an easy chair is quality.
Time is quantity.
How can I relax in my chair without the awareness of time passing by giving me a sense of urgency?
Maybe that is something related to age. There are so many, of everything. Getting up in the morning, going to sleep at night, and everything in the middle from mealtimes to work to play. Everything is just going so fast.
There seems to be less and less time to do all the things I want to do.
How Do I Slow Me Down?
If time can’t be slowed down, how do I slow me down? Well, there is a difference between a moment and grouping of moments.
It’s easy to be in a moment, savoring.
However, when there is a grouping of moments, because you are looking at the task, it’s like time is stolen. Then before you know it, it will be garbage day again.
So, there it is. When completing a task take tiny steps of focus, attention, awareness in the task so as not to ignore the moments within and essentially throw them away.
Time Is Here
Have you ever forgotten if you’ve washed your hair in the shower? Have no memory of the last five miles you’ve driven? Forgotten why you entered a room?
You were in your head and not where you were.
I’ve come to the conclusion that time is here, and I am subject to it.
My mistake was choosing my moments of awareness while being everywhere else the rest of the time.
The key is to be in the moment, every single one. So, at the end of the day you have lived in all of them as opposed to thinking about all the other moments that have passed or the ones that may or may not come.
