Post #74: Well, Here We Are

Another New Year…

is upon us. Some of you did exactly what you said you were going to do in January 2024. Some of you worked on and towards what you said you were going to do. The rest woke up this morning and said something unintelligible upon learning that in a few days this year will be over, and you did nothing.

It’s okay if you need to get back into bed. Take a moment. Take the day.

But when you are ready, hopefully before the new year, come back here and give me a minute.

A New You

Time is a social construct. It was created to keep civilization organized and productive. Since we needed to make that time visual and visceral, the calendar was invented. Within this time matrix everything must have a beginning and an ending.

Try not to get caught up in thinking that the end of anything, is, well, the end. This unending dance of beginning and ending, new and old, opportunity and loss is only a way to tidy up all this time.

Yes, there is aging. There is that. But rather than assigning anything negative to this fact, think of it as a milestone. Not everyone will reach their twenties, fifties, or eighties.

Each rung can symbolize a new you and that can happen any day at any time. There is so much space in between each step that is full of possibility.

Every Minute

Think about it, every minute is a chance to become better, take a step towards your authentic self. To be who or do who and what you’ve always wanted.

What you do, or the way you think, now, has the power to change your path, your mind, your life. It’s always been your choice.

And what you do, or your current mind-set may or may not affect your life in a week, a month, year, or the rest of your life depending on the quality and intention of that action or thought.

Every thought has the potential to expand or shrink your world. Every action has the power to become a benefit, or a consequence based on those thoughts.

One Year Ago

You have the choice to believe that one year has gone by. Or see that there is a new year every day. Every day is exactly one year from one year ago, right?

That is 365 chances to initiate change, make improvements, or leave behind what no longer serves you. Not just once a year.

One out of 365 days are horrible odds. Why not think of it as 365 days to begin again.

Fortunately, no matter what you have or haven’t done happiness is always within reach and only a second away.

“There is no heavier burden than having too many desires.”
